Buchs - Maienfeld

The first part of this stage can be described as a "meditation stage". We pilgrimage the first 3 hours along the Rhine bank path to Trübbach. To our left, we see the castle of the Prince of and to Liechtenstein. At Trübbach we cross the Rhine and enter the "Ländle". Ahead of us, in Balzers, is Gutenberg Castle. Immediately afterwards we leave Liechtenstein again and climb up to the training area and the fortress of St. Luzisteig. In earlier years, this was a barracks of the "train", i.e. the horse and mule troops. Through the forest it now goes downhill and we arrive in one of the best-known wine-growing areas of eastern Switzerland, the Bündner Herrschaft. In Maienfeld, our today's stage destination, you have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful nectar. Maienfeld is also "Heidiland". Thus a crowning (after so many princes and castles) conclusion to today's day.
