Route: Brünig Pass Height - Brienzwiler - Hofstetten - Kienholz - Giessbach - Iseltwald - Bönigen - Interlaken

Brünig Pass Height – Brienzwiler

The signposted Jakobsweg to Brienzwiler is in parts very steep and not passable by bike. Therefore, we recommend descending on the Brünig Pass Road (caution, very busy) to the village of Brienzwiler.

From Brienzwiler (village west side) we turn right (signpost: cycle path towards Brienz) on the paved road. From Bifang it goes straight on Wilerstrasse to the Ballenberg Museum. The open-air museum can be visited for an entrance fee. A bike parking is located in the immediate vicinity of the entrance.

From Ballenberg we turn right towards Hofstetten. We ride through the village towards Schwandenstrasse (wooden signpost Schwanden) and after about 1.4 km we turn left, following the signpost Kienholz (hiking trail to Kienholz/Brienz).

In Brienz (village entrance) at the end of the paved field path we go straight on Rothornstrasse and at the end turn right into Lauenenstrasse. At the end of Lauenenstrasse we turn right into the main road and ride on it to the Esso gas station. There we turn left following the signpost Axalp onto Seestrasse.

In Bönigen after the Park Hotel at the info point (signpost cycle path C) we turn right to the beach path, which leads us along the Aare to Interlaken East. From Interlaken East we then continue straight on the cycle path (signpost cycle path B) to the Interlaken Höhenmatte.

A trip to the Beatus Caves is worthwhile. Since the road is very busy, it is best to take the STI bus, which takes us from Interlaken West to the Beatus Cave. A special pleasure is also the boat trip to Sundlauenen, from where a footpath leads to the Beatus Cave.

Stage 10

Route: Interlaken - Leissigen - Faulensee - Spiez - Zwieselberg - Amsoldingen

Interlaken - Spiez

We leave Interlaken, coming from Höhenmatte at the post roundabout, where we turn right to Unterseen. From here we ride on the well-signposted cycle path (signpost: cycle path 8+) over Unterseen, Därligen, Leissigen and Faulensee to Spiez. There we visit the beautiful town with its vineyards and the romantic lake bay with castle and castle church. Then we go up to the train station, where a beautiful overall view is offered.

Spiez - Amsoldingen

In Spiez we go straight ahead on the cycle path (signpost: cycle path 8+9) westward to Lattigen and from there, following the cycle path signposting (signpost cycle path No. 8) straight ahead to the Hannibrücke.

After the bridge we turn left off the main road onto cycle path No. 9 and after about 200 m reach the signpost Zwieselberg (white signpost to Zwieselberg/Glütsch) which leads us turning right onto cycle path No. 64 (signpost: cycle path 64) until we reach Zwieselberg. There we meet the signposted Jakobsweg. On a gentle descent it goes straight on the paved road to the village intersection in Amsoldingen, where we turn left to reach the church of Amsoldingen.

For bicycle pilgrims who take their time, we recommend a short detour into the village of Leissigen. There is an old sawmill and an old church to visit.
