Local Museum Weisslingen

Local Museum Weisslingen

From Winterthur station, we cross part of the old town and follow the street toward Seen. On the right side, we see the church of Seen built in 1649, which was completed with the support of Landvogt Waser, a great-grandson of Zwingli. The first pastor still lived in Kyburg, as the parsonage was only built about 100 years later. For three years (after the French Revolution), French soldiers were quartered in the church. In Sennhof, we cross the Töss river, which we now have in view for some time. At Kollbrunn, we leave the Töss and turn right into the valley of the Wissenbach, soon arriving in Weisslingen. The history of the church is very old. When the first church was built will probably never be known since no traces exist, but a Christian site is first documented at the end of the 12th century / beginning of the 13th century. Between 1500 and 1510, there are records of a renovation or even a new construction of the church. The path then leads us along meadows and forests through Ottikon to Illnau.
