In Vaduz we come directly to the Prince’s Castle, which cannot be visited. Vaduz is the seat of the state government.

In 1699, Prince Hans Adam of Liechtenstein acquired the lordship of Schellenberg and in 1712 the county of Vaduz. In 1719 Emperor Charles VI raised the County of Vaduz with the Lordship of Schellenberg to the Imperial Principality of Liechtenstein.
Balzers. The castle hill of Gutenberg Castle has been continuously inhabited from the Neolithic period (about 3000 BC) to today and was first mentioned in documents in 842. The castle is the landmark of the municipality. Built in the 12th century, the castle stands on a 70-meter-high rock spur. After many years in private ownership, it was taken over by the country of Liechtenstein in 1979.
Anmerkungen
On today's stage we cross the entire Principality of Liechtenstein with its capital Vaduz. Worth seeing in Vaduz are the National Museum, the Art Museum and the Postal Museum.

The yellow-white hiking trail markers show the way. At the debris control in the Tisner Tobel (after about 4 km) we cross the national border into the Principality of Liechtenstein. On a path marked as Panorama Path 66/Prince's Path – the same hiking trail markings are used in the Principality of Liechtenstein as in Switzerland – we reach
Beautiful forest paths, slightly elevated above the valley floor, with views of the Swiss mountains, lead past Schaan to Vaduz. We come directly to the castle, from where we descend into the centre of the town.
At the southern end of Vaduz we leave the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein and turn westwards towards the Rhine.
The old wooden bridge leading over the Rhine into Switzerland we leave on the right, stay on the Liechtenstein side and hike upstream on the Rhine past the town of Triesen. After about 5 km we leave the Rhine dam, cross over to the country road, go under it and follow the hiking trail to the right to
Balzers. From afar the castle hill of Gutenberg Castle can be seen. At its foot stands the parish church, slightly elevated on the hill the Gutenberg House. It is a house for holistic education. Princess Franziska of Liechtenstein had the building erected from 1854 to 1856. It was used by various religious orders, among others as a high school (until 1973).
