Today's stage will take us over a distance of 27.8 km with a walking time of about 7.0 hours from Rheinau to Winterthur. A difficult day stage awaits us. We start the hike at the Rheinau monastery island and follow the marked paths. We walk southwards along the Rhine and arrive in Ellikon am Rhein after about 5.5 km. The path today leads us over asphalt and natural trails. We turn away from the Rhine and cross the Thur. We reach Flaach after about 10.0 km. The path passes more villages and shortly after Buch am Irchel, after about 16.5 km at an altitude of 621 m, we reach the highest point of the day stage. Then follows the descent to Neftenbach. We leave the village towards Töss and cross the highway about 4.0 km before Winterthur. We reach Winterthur via the districts of Wülflingen, Oberfeld, and Neuwiesen and enter the old town after crossing the railway tracks.

Anmerkungen

The Rheinau - Winterthur section is part of the Schaffhausen-Zurich route, which will take us from Blumberg to Rapperswil-Jona. We are on the Swiss pilgrimage routes.
