Village church of Alt Sanitz
Sanitz and Rostock are both worth seeing; a break in Sanitz helps to spend a little more time in both places. Although Rostock is not the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, it is the largest city in the federal state. Rostock was a member of the Hanseatic League, known for its wealth, its large port, local shipbuilding, and numerous breweries. Our route ends at St. Mary's Church, once one of the four main churches of Rostock.

Note(s)
The pilgrim route along the southern shore of the Baltic Sea has various names, for example in Germany also known as the "Baltic-Westphalian Way of St. James." From Poland eastwards, the term "Pomeranian Way of St. James" is common. We stick to the cross-border name "Via Baltica" in this documentation, partly because of the brevity of the name and also because pilgrims to Rome or even Jerusalem can use it.
