Many hiking trails lead out of Greifswald

Luck, good location, and the right wind direction
The largest town along the way is Grimmen. So if we need something for the evening or the following day, this is the moment to shop. Such a shopping stroll can also be ideally combined with a city tour, because Grimmen is one of the towns in Pomerania whose medieval building fabric is very well preserved. This includes the early Gothic St. Mary's Church, the Gothic town hall, as well as the three preserved gates of the city fortifications: the Greifswald Gate, the Stralsund Gate, and the Mill Gate.

Grimmen Stralsunder Gate and St. Mary's Church
The soon-to-be reached stage town is very small and is characterized by the «SOS Village Community Hohenwiesen», for which we pilgrims are a welcome change and a small source of income, so we will be welcomed.
Note(s)
The pilgrim path along the southern coast of the Baltic Sea has various names, in Germany for example also «Baltic-Westphalian Pilgrimage Way». From Poland eastwards, the name «Pomeranian Pilgrimage Way» is common. In this documentation we stick to the cross-border name «Via Baltica», partly because of the brevity of the name, and also because pilgrims to Rome or even Jerusalem can use it.
