Pilgrimage - enjoying the flora

Pilgrimage - enjoying the flora

Today's stage from Ziegenhain to Kirchhain is almost 32 kilometers long, somewhat longer than the previous stages on the Elisabeth path, and since it is also a bit hilly, we might start a little earlier than usual. At the beginning of the stage, we hike west-northwest to the district Treysa of Schwalmstadt and get to know the retention basin up close. That's all for today about the (almost) lowest point of the stage. Our path then runs quite directly southwest to Kirchhain. Only shortly before the stage town Kirchhain will the "height above sea level" be slightly lower than at the retention basin at the start.

In between, we will cross 3 elevations, namely first the Hardwald around kilometer 11 and then an elevation from Eckardswiesen and Speckwinkel up to the height "Krücke," a section where we walk at just over 300 meters above sea level. Only shortly before the end of the stage we face a crossing at Langenstein, but here the ascent is only about 50 meters of elevation gain.

In Kirchhain our recording ends at Biegenstrasse, where the Elisabeth church and the Franciscan monastery lie immediately next to each other.

Anmerkungen

Three Elisabeth paths lead as ecumenical pilgrimage routes to the burial church of Saint Elisabeth in Marburg. We use one of these 3 pilgrimage routes to get from Eisenach to Marburg as a stage on the way to Santiago.

Tipp des Autors

The stages in this documentation are suggestions that each pilgrim can adapt to their wishes. However, the technical data always assumes that these stages would be completed in one day each.
