    St. Roch: Chapel on Monts de la Margeride

    After starting, the path leads past fish ponds through the forest to the pass summit, where we encounter the Chapel Saint Roch. On field and forest paths, we descend through a beautiful pine forest to the settlement of Le Rouget, just before Saint-Alban-Sur-Limagnole, the largest town on this stage. The castle, which we pass by in the last section, has since become a regional psychiatric clinic. Worth seeing in Saint-Alban is the Romanesque church from the 11th century. 

    After reaching the lowest point of this stage in Saint Alban, the route gently ascends again to Aumont-Aubrac. Here, our path is also repeatedly signposted as the “Tour de la Margeride.”

    Anmerkungen

    The Via Podiensis begins in Le Puy-En-Velay and leads us to St. Jean Pied de Port. It corresponds to the long-distance path 65 and is marked with the shell and red-white bars.
