dammed Rhône downstream of Seyssel
The first 20 km are practically flat. The few altitude meters we gain are mainly due to the last kilometers. The small stage village Jongieux lies at the end on the Rhône-side slope of a hill, behind which the large natural lake, Lac du Bourget, is hidden parallel to the river course. Incidentally, on this stage we have already crossed into the Dept. Savoie (73) shortly after the start near Châteaufort in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Anmerkungen
The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrimage routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which starts in Le Puy-en-Velay and from there heads westwards towards the Pyrenees.
