    Farewell to Saint-Genix

    We actually start this stage still in the Dept. Savoie (73), but after crossing the bridge over the Guiers stream, we are in the town of Aoste, which is already in the Dept. Isère (38). After the bridge we follow the Guiers against the current in a southern direction. After crossing the motorway, the rest of this stage as well as the following stage head southwest, and one more stage later the route then turns west, where we will cross the Rhône plain south of the Lyon metropolitan area.

    After the previous mountain stage, this stage is relatively short and has only slight inclines, so it is a stage to allow some rest for joints and muscles that might have been strained the day before.

    Anmerkungen

    The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrimage routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which begins in Le Puy-en-Velay and from there leads westward to the Pyrenees.
