    Geneva: Anglican Church «Holy Trinity»

    We start the easy stage at the Cathedral of Saint-Pierre and walk southwards through the city, cross the Arve, and reach the town of Carouge. The path continues to Charrot, the last village on Swiss soil. Shortly after, we cross the border and find ourselves in the Haute-Savoie department, which belongs to the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Passing the Archamps industrial park, the route leads us via Neydans to Beaumont, the destination of today. A visit to the village church of Saint-Etienne is worthwhile there.

    The trail markings change after the border: in addition to the yellow shell, the path is usually marked with white and red bars. These are the usual markings for long-distance trails (Grande Randonnée) in France. The Via Gebennensis largely follows the GR 65.

    Anmerkungen

    The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss pilgrimage routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which starts in Le Puy-en-Velay and from there leads westwards to the Pyrenees.
