This stage begins at the Catholic church in Zsámbék. Before leaving the town, the path leads uphill to a hill where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Zsámbék Basin and the town of Zsámbék. On the other side of the hill, the path takes us through agricultural fields to the village of Mány. We now cross the border from Pest County into Fejér County.

Mány is a village over 900 years old in the Zsámbék Basin, surrounded by the Gerecse and Vértes Mountains. We leave the village and walk through a hilly landscape to Vasztély, a small village in a beautiful area with a total of 200 inhabitants. Through the village runs a single street which we follow until we can continue on a field path again.

From here on, there are no more ascents or descents and we soon leave Fejér County and enter Komárom-Esztergom County. We arrive at a beautiful lake where we pass many fishing huts. Now we reach flat terrain up to our day's destination, Tarján. At the edge of the charming little Swabian village, we find wine cellars under monument protection and a cheerful Swabian inn. The Catholic church in Tarján, built in the Baroque style, was constructed around 1780 by József Eszterházy. The village also offers accommodation and a restaurant. It is worth visiting the wine cellars on the vineyard.

Note(s)

The Jakobsweg in Hungary from Budapest to Wolfsthal runs continuously on the western or southern side of the Danube. Wolfsthal is located slightly southwest of Bratislava, making the continuation of the path westward from Wolfsthal also a route for pilgrims coming from Slovakia.

Following the Jakobsweg markings, we leave Zsámbék to the hill above the town, where the Maria Pilgrim Way (purple sign) crosses with the Jakobsweg, and proceed to Mány. After leaving the village, we again follow only the Jakobsweg markings until Tarján.
