Kisbér-Pannonhalma

We leave Kisbér and walk through a meadow- and forest-rich area, past fields until we reach the vineyard of Kisbér. It continues past fields and vineyards. We walk further through an acacia forest, over fields, and after turning, we reach the town border of Kerékteleki. We pass the town, see the neighboring village Bársonyos, where a vineyard rises. We arrive at the town cemetery, walk past the Catholic church, and continue straight towards Tápszentmiklós. There we first see the Reformed and then the Catholic church. We leave the village on an agricultural service road and arrive at the town of Táp. At the village entrance, we find the open-air museum on the hill; the construction of the houses already began at the end of the 17th century.

An important architectural monument is the Táper, the Roman Catholic church, both built in the Baroque architectural style. The stage Táp-Pannonhalma winds through gardens, weekend houses, meadows, and forests, a beautiful landscape. When we arrive in Pannonhalma and climb up the Abbey hill, we reach one of the most important memorials built in Hungarian history, both from a church and architectural perspective, the Benedictine Abbey, which is part of the World Heritage site. The Benedictine Abbey celebrated its millennium in 1996, which Pope John Paul II also attended. An atmospheric but steep path leads us down to the town's Catholic church.

Pannonhalma is a famous tourist meeting point, so there are more accommodation options and restaurants also await their guests.

The Way of St. James in Hungary from Budapest to Wolfsthal runs continuously on the western or southern side of the Danube. Wolfsthal lies slightly southwest of Bratislava, making the continuation of the path from Wolfsthal westward also a route for pilgrims coming from Slovakia.

From Kisbér, we follow the Way of St. James markings; the yellow tourist signs merge between Táp and Pannonhalma. From the Pannonhalma Abbey to the Catholic church in the village, we again follow the Way of St. James markings.
