We begin the pilgrimage on the summit of the Ślęża mountain, rising almost 500 m above the surrounding area (718 m above sea level). The mountain has been fascinating and attracting people for centuries. Here we find ancient cult sculptures dated to the VII-IV centuries BC. and the ruins of a medieval castle. Sobótka, located at the foot of Ślęża mountain, belonged to the Augustinians until 1810, brought by Piotr Włostowic to Silesia in the 12th century. The Gothic church of st. James (XVc.) rising above the market square in Sobótka, stands on the site of an older Romanesque temple. On our way to Kostomłoty, we pass by the Mietkowski Lagoon on the picturesque Bystrzyca River.
