Małopolska Droga św. Jakuba: Bielsko-Biała – Szczyrk

The last stage of the Lesser Poland Way of St. James leads from Bielsko-Biała to the Sanctuary of St. Jakub in Szczyrk. Leaving Bielsko-Biała, we enter the Silesian Beskids. On the horizon of our trek we will see the picturesque mountain ranges of Barania Góra (1220 m a.s.l.), Klimczok (1117 m a.s.l.) and Skrzyczne (1257 m a.s.l.). Wooden church of St. James in Szczyrk - from April 12, 2011, the shrine of St. James - is, next to the shrine of St. James in Więcławice Stare, the most important "St.jamesian" sacred object on the Lesser Poland section of Camino de Santiago. The temple was built in 1797-1800. In the main altar of the sanctuary there is a statue of St. James, dressed in a dress with a coat over his shoulder, on which there is a shell, a travel pouch by the side, holds a cross and a book in his hands. Sanctuary of St. James in Szczyrk also has relics of St. James. The Brotherhood of the Saint,, which marked the Beskid Road of St. James, operates here since 2008.
