In this stage there are three sanctuaries - the sanctuary of the Suffering Jesus in Bielany, from where we begin the journey, then the sanctuary of St. Archbishop Józef Bilczewski in Wilamowice and the shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows in Hałcnów. After crossing the bridge over the Sola River, we leave the historical Lesser Poland and enter the Silesian Foothills - cut by river valleys flowing from the Beskidy Mountains (including the Vistula, Soła and Biała). It is worth stopping for a longer time in Bielsko-Biała and visiting primarily the Old Town (in the former city of Bielsko) located on the City Hill, with a rectangular market square,St. Nicholas cathedral and the Castle of the Sułkowski princes from the fourteenth century.
Tipp des Autors
Wilamowice is the only place in the world where the Wilam language is used, resulting from mixing dialects of settlers from Germany, the Netherlands and Scotland who came here in the 13th century. Currently, it is used by only 25 people.
