Farewell from Chaumont
We remain in the Dept. Haute-Savoie. In Desingy, it is worth visiting the 12th-century Église Saint-Laurent. Our stage town Seyssel lies, as mentioned, on the Rhône and is the first larger agglomeration after Geneva where pilgrims can find everything they need for the journey.

Désingy
However, since the pilgrimage path also leads over the heights here, we don't go directly to Seyssel, which lies down in the Rhône valley, but pass about 200 meters above Seyssel. Just below the route lies an inviting pilgrim hostel with the best view, but visiting from there requires descending those 200 meters and later climbing back up.
The Via Gebennensis connects the Swiss Camino routes from Geneva with the Via Podiensis, which begins in Le Puy-en-Velay and leads westwards to the Pyrenees.
If a few pilgrims share the costs, it might be possible to organize an inexpensive transport back to the hostel; we probably wouldn't be the first to do so.
